Our Customer is a major producer of mixed fruit and berries for leading supermarket chains. Dodman were consulted due to problems delivering frozen berries to existing multi-head weighing stations where hygiene, accuracy and throughput were all major considerations
The Challenge:
Dodman accepted the invite to demonstrate how we could improve production efficiency while reducing spillage using our range of electromagnetic vibratory feeders.
Insights:
The Dodman electromagnetic feeder design ensures that materials are reliably metered. The innovative adjustable feed gate allows the discharge of berries at the correct bed depth uniformly onto the vibrating tray. This eliminates the feast and famine problems previously experienced. The Dodman feeder has a fast response time when stopping the feed. Routing of the berries could be achieved by using an insertable blank in the tray. The Dodman electromagnetic vibratory feeders run quietly and provide ease of cleaning.
Compared to other technologies, such as belt conveyors, the Dodman electromagnetic vibratory feeders increase accuracy with a more positive cut off and even bed depth. The electromagnetic feeder allows easy access, so cleaning and hygiene is greatly improved. There are no rotating components, so there is a high level of safety and reduced maintenance.
Our Solution:
Dodman was awarded the contract against stiff competition to install five electromagnetic vibratory feeders replacing a series of less efficient belt conveyors. The project was a huge success. The Dodman electromagnetic feeders coped easily with the throughput, accuracy, and spillage was eradicated.
Our customer was so pleased with the solution the same solution has now been installed at two satellite sites.
